Miso Butter Corn made in a Thermomix

This is my independent Thermomix homage to Adam Liaw and the comforting appeal of miso butter corn. It keeps the spirit of the original inspiration, but the method is written fresh for TM6 and TM7 cooks who want clear settings and a warm, achievable result.

Ingredients

Thermomix method

  1. Steam the corn: 500 g water in the bowl, corn in the Varoma, 15 min / Varoma / speed 1 (kernels need only 8 min). Set aside. Empty the bowl.
  2. Add butter, miso and sugar. Warm 3 min / 90°C / speed 2 until smooth.
  3. Brush or toss the corn in the miso butter. Scatter with spring onion.

Aly's tips

  • Miso + butter is pure umami — don't skip the sugar, it balances the salt.
  • Char the cobs on a grill after glazing for smokiness.

Questions

Cobs or kernels?

Both work — kernels are quicker and easier to toss.

Is this the original Adam Liaw recipe?
