Lentil Shepherd's Pie made in a Thermomix

This is my independent Thermomix homage to Tom Kerridge and the comforting appeal of shepherd’s pie. It keeps the spirit of the original inspiration, but the method is written fresh for TM6 and TM7 cooks who want clear settings and a warm, achievable result.

Ingredients

Thermomix method

  1. Steam the potatoes: 500 g water in the bowl, potatoes in the Varoma, 20 min / Varoma / speed 1. Mash with butter; set aside. Empty the bowl.
  2. Chop onion, carrot and garlic 5 sec / speed 5. Add oil, sauté 4 min / 120°C / speed 1.
  3. Add lentils, tomato paste, stock and thyme. Cook 28 min / 100°C / Reverse / speed 1 until tender. Season, spread in a dish, top with mash and bake 180°C for 15 minutes.

Aly's tips

  • Crush a few lentils to thicken the filling.
  • A splash of soy or Worcestershire deepens the flavour.
