Honey Soy Chicken made in a Thermomix

This is my independent Thermomix homage to Adam Liaw and the comforting appeal of honey soy chicken. It keeps the spirit of the original inspiration, but the method is written fresh for TM6 and TM7 cooks who want clear settings and a warm, achievable result.

Ingredients

Thermomix method

  1. Chop garlic and ginger 3 sec / speed 7. Add soy, honey, vinegar and the chicken to the bowl. Put the rinsed rice and water in the Varoma dish; set the Varoma in position.
  2. Cook 25 min / Varoma / Reverse / speed 1 — the chicken simmers below while the rice steams above.
  3. Lift out the Varoma. Reduce the sauce 4 min / Varoma / Reverse / speed 1 until sticky. Serve over rice with spring onion and sesame.

Aly's tips

  • The Varoma cooks chicken and rice in one go — that's the magic.
  • Reduce at the end for that glossy, sticky glaze.
